The airfield is located in the extreme northeast section of Afghanistan deep within Thehindu Kush mountain range. (Note: do not confuse with Khorog airfield 2000 feet east across the border (river) in Tajikistan. Approximately 213 miles north of Kabul.
The airfield located in an extremely rugged mountainous area with elevations to 16000 feetwithin 6 miles. Natural drainage should be good.
