The airfield is located 5 miles (8 km) south southeast of Konduz city and just west of the Konduz-khanabad road, 9 miles (14 km) west of Khanabad, 25 miles (40 km) south of the Oxus river and 33 miles (53 km) south of the Uzbekistan border. 17067 foot (5200 mt) mountains are approximately 35 miles (56 km) southeast.

The airfield is surrounded by mountainous terrain averaging 5000 feet (1524 mt). Good drainage is supplemented by two cast iron metal pipe culverts under the runway
